Pool play showcased the team’s offensive depth and resilience, highlighted by a dominant 6–1 win over UMass and a strong 3–1 victory against Colorado Boulder. Key contributors like Gaurika, Hudson, Dhruv, and Ally powered the attack with coordinated scoring and unselfish play. Despite a tough 1–4 loss to Florida International, the Tritons bounced back with a composed 2–0 win over Wisconsin Madison, securing the #11 seed heading into the championship playoff bracket.

Entering playoffs as underdogs, UC San Diego rose to the moment in their first-round matchup against #6 Tennessee. The team displayed some of their best chemistry and passing of the entire season, controlling the pace and creating quality opportunities. Their effort paid off with a crucial 1–0 victory, sealed by a perfectly executed penalty corner goal from Gaurika, assisted by Dillan. That win propelled the Tritons into the quarterfinals among the top eight teams in the nation, where they faced #5 UVA with confidence and momentum.

In the quarterfinals, the Tritons proved they belonged among the elite, matching UVA with exceptional possession, structure, and teamwork throughout the first half. Although UC San Diego controlled much of the play, they were narrowly defeated after UVA converted a penalty corner in an otherwise evenly matched game. The loss marked the end of an incredible run, but finishing #5 in the nation is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the team’s growth, skill, and determination. It was a phenomenal weekend of hockey and a statement performance—clearly just the beginning for the Tritons on the national stage.

With teams including UC San Diego, UC Davis, San Diego State, SDFHC, and SDFHC2, every game showcased high energy, skillful play, and great teamwork. Throughout the tournament, each team battled hard and contributed to an atmosphere that was both competitive and supportive of the sport.

UCSD showed determination and resilience across the tournament, competing against talented opponents and continuing to build chemistry on the field. UC Davis and SDSU also demonstrated strong structure, passing, and intensity, making every matchup challenging and entertaining to watch. SDFHC2 brought great effort and hustle throughout the weekend, helping create closely contested games that highlighted the depth of talent across all participating teams.

At the end of the tournament, SDFHC emerged as the tournament champions after consistently strong performances throughout the weekend. Their organization, ball movement, and composure under pressure helped separate them in a highly competitive field. Overall, the Triton Classic was a success.

Not long after, Grace added to the momentum, scoring a field goal assisted by Emmy to give UCSD a solid 2–0 lead.

The second quarter brought tougher moments for UCSD as UCLA responded with two goals of their own, tightening the score and shifting the game’s intensity. Despite the pressure, UCSD’s defense worked hard to contain UCLA’s attack, keeping the match level heading into halftime and setting up a competitive second half.

Our field hockey team faced SDFHA in our first scrimmage of the season, ending in a hard-fought 3–3 tie. This game marked an exciting start to the season, giving the team a valuable opportunity to build chemistry and test our new lineup against strong competition. Despite some early nerves, the team quickly found its rhythm, showing impressive communication and hustle across the field.

With many new players joining this year, the scrimmage served as an excellent introduction to game play and teamwork. The newcomers stepped up with confidence, demonstrating great effort, awareness, and adaptability in every position. Their energy helped the team maintain momentum throughout the match, and several key plays and defensive stops showcased their growing skill and understanding of the game.

Overall, the 3–3 result reflected a balanced and competitive performance from both sides. Our team displayed strong potential, especially considering it was our first time playing together in a real game setting. The scrimmage highlighted areas to improve, but more importantly, it revealed the talent and determination within this new group.
