Field Hockey

Worldwide for both men and women, Field Hockey is the second most popular sport after soccer. Field Hockey has greatly expanded in recent years on both coasts of the United States providing people of all ages with more competitive playing opportunities. The UCSD Field Hockey Team is a member of the Western Collegiate Field Hockey Conference, which consists of teams hailing from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara University, Chico State University, UC Davis, University of Southern California, Claremont McKenna College, and occasional out-of-state teams as well. UCSD Field Hockey is a competitive program setting its goals and motives in competing in both the WCFHC Playoffs and Nationals on a year-to-year basis. In the past, the team has been very successful, even placing second place in the WCFHC Championships as well as second place in the NFHCA College Club Championships. For our 2016-2017 season, we aspire to repeat their success and come out as #1. Our regular game season is during Fall Quarter: beginning of September until the first week of December. We practice 3 days a week from 6-8pm on Monday and Thursday, and 5-7pm on Wednesday. We also have a Spring Season starting mid-April and runs through Memorial Weekend in May. Our preseason tryouts are to get you familiar with our practices and how our team is run, and will start Monday September 25, 2017 on Muir field from 6-8pm. We will also have tryouts that Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8pm on Muir field. We encourage all new and experienced players to come out for the team. It will be one of the best decisions you will make while you are here at UCSD. We have a great group of dedicated and talented players as well as a fantastic coaching staff who are looking for new additions to the program. Become a part of the UCSD Field Hockey Family and make your own mark on the team. We look forward to playing with you!
