Nothing Can Slow UCSD Field Hockey Down!
After a long hiatus due to Covid-19, UCSD Field Hockey finally returned with their initial match being against Claremont McKenna College. New and old players were greeted with uncomfortably hot weather as UCSD arrived at the opposing team’s campus but everyone continued on due to their passion for the sport. Despite being the first college match for both Hannah Nagakura and Lily Vo, they both dominated the offense as they synergistically scored the points for a winning score of 3 to 1. As UCSD dominated offensively, the team could not have won if it was not for the defense of newcomer Katelyn Kennedy (goalie), who blocked a majority of Claremont McKenna’s shots. The game had its low moments as both captains, Marissa Garcia and Mina Balen, were injured but their perseverance is a quality that should be admired. UCSD Field Hockey has returned with a win and is ready for more!
