2/27/26 - Western Region Challenge
This past weekend, the team competed in the West Region Challenge, their last game was against Fullerton to take the championship for Flight 1! The Tritons beat them in two sets, while only having 8 people, and people playing different positions. The team is proud of everyone for stepping up with what they had.
2/8/26 - Regionals against USC
For UCSD’s final game of the tournament, the team faced off against USC, following three challenging and competitive matches earlier in the day. The matchup proved to be intense and closely contested, featuring high-level skill and strategy from both sides. Players on both teams demonstrated exceptional athleticism and teamwork, making every point a hard-fought battle.
As the last teams remaining in the gym, the atmosphere was electric. Every player on UCSD pushed themselves to the limit, executing precise passes, tight defensive coverage, and strategic plays designed to gain an edge. The energy in the gym reflected the stakes, with both squads showing relentless determination to secure a victory.
In the end, USC emerged with a narrow 2–1 win over UCSD. While the result was disappointing for the Tritons, the team left the court with pride in their effort. Every member contributed fully, demonstrating resilience, focus, and sportsmanship. The match highlighted the team’s growth over the tournament and reinforced their commitment to leaving everything on the field, regardless of the outcome.
Overall, the final game served as a testament to UCSD’s competitive spirit and dedication, showcasing a team capable of facing elite opponents with determination and skill, and setting a strong foundation for future tournaments.
1/23/26 - MLK Tournament
UCSD went to the Championship round at the 2026 MLK Tournament. Though they fell short to SDSU in two sets, they battled hard throughout the tournament, getting themselves to second place in the gold bracket! The Tritons went undefeated until the last game, beating teams like University of North Dakota and University of Arizona, two big teams who traveled far to compete in the MLK tournament. The Tritons are on an upwards trajectory from here on out!
11/24/25 - CBVT League Championships
A great close to the season came with this championship tournament. The biggest challenge of the day was battling strong morning winds, which thankfully calmed as the day progressed. It was an overall fantastic day of competition, and anticipation is already building for the next events in the spring.
In league play, the first seed (Claire and Haruna) and second seed (Hannah and Ashley) ended the day with nearly identical records. Both pairs started strong, winning first place in their respective pools and securing victories in their semifinal matches. In the finals, after close and hard-fought battles, both teams fell to UCLA.
In the third seed, Jocelyn and Ella faced difficulties with the wind but continued to play with determination. During pool play, every match went to a third set, though they finished 0–2. Moving into the playoff bracket, they won their quarterfinal match and then faced San Diego State in a tight contest that resulted in a narrow loss.
In the Open Division, four teams competed— the largest number the club has ever entered. The first team, Levia and Chloe, finished 1–1 in pool play and claimed 5th overall in the gold bracket. The fourth seed, Jayden and AnMei, tied with Levia and Chloe for the 5th-place spot in gold. They played against Gracie and Rose (the third seed) in the quarterfinals and came out on top in a close match. Gracie and Rose ultimately finished third overall in the gold bracket. Additionally, the Open Division 2s pair won first overall in the silver bracket.
At the end of the tournament, an award was presented based on the overall placement of each school’s athletes across all divisions, and the program earned second place. The progress shown throughout the season was significant, and excitement is already high for the upcoming season.
11/8/25 - Women’s Volleyball CBVT Round 2
We had six pairs compete this weekend in Huntington for our second round tournament of the year! There was great competition throughout the day, making each game an entertaining one.
Playing in the 1st seed in the league pool, Claire and Haruna won their first two matches, losing the last one, in a tight game against SDSU. Facing the highest-ranking pairs of the tournament, these two did a great job holding their own, playing for the first time together.
Hannah and Chloe played in the second seed slot. This was also their first time ever played together- they fought valiantly, and overall had just such a great time playing together. They ended their day with a 1-2 record.
Jocylen and Ella played in the third pair slot, and although they had a rough start to the day, they ended it strongly, taking UCI to a third set, beating them 15-7 in that last match.
In the open division league, our pairs consisted of Bauer and Levia, Jadyn and Anmei, and Ava and Gracie, all of whom made it to the gold division playoffs! Shout out to Bauer and Levia for making it into the semis! They had a long day of play, facing 7 matches throughout the day.
10/25/25 - SCCVL Fall Classic Tournament
UCSD's A and B team traveled up to Irvine this past weekend for our Annual Fall Classic Tournament. A team went 4-2 over the weekend. Their final game was against Cal State Long Beach, where they fell short in the fifth set. As for the B team, they went 0-6. 4 games went to three sets, hard work was poured into each and every point, and their coach is hopeful for growth. We were able to play teams not just from the West Coast, but including Colorado and Arizona. This really expanded our play, we are excited to see what the future holds as we branch out to playing outside of the SCCVL.
10/18/25 - Women’s Volleyball CBVT Round 1
We had five pairs compete this weekend in Huntington to kick off our 2025 Fall Beach Season! Each pair faced the highs of winning and the lows of losing, making it a tough day of competition.
Ashley and Hannah played in the first pair slot, facing off against high-level pairs. Unfortunately, they fell short in their two early matches. However, they ended the day on a high note, taking down SDSU in three sets to finish with a win.
Bauer and Kea played in the second pair slot giving all the teams they played a run for their money with close fought back-and-forth matches. They ended their day with a 1-2 record.
Brenna and Chloe played in the third pair slot, and they tackled the day head-on, winning two of their three matches. They trampled Point Loma in their second game and kept their foot on the gas, beating USC in three sets to end the day!
Big shout-out to Ella and Jocelyn for winning their entire pool and taking 3rd in the Open division, ending the day with a 3-1 record. They made their first three games look like a walk in the park and narrowly lost their semi-finals game by a mere 2 points.
Gracie and Jadyn put up a tough fight in the open division! Sadly coming up short with three losses in pool play but bounced back quickly in bracket play, making quick work of Pepperdine. They were tooth and nail against SDSU in the bronze bracket finals, just coming up short by 2 points.
November can’t come soon enough because we are itching to return to the beach for round 2 of the CBVT league series. Stay tuned!
4/17/25 - NCVF National Championships
Alas, we have come to the end of our season in sunny Arizona! Both teams made their ways down to Phoenix for this year’s Nationals. Day 1 consisted of pool play, where the A team took first in their pool after close matches with Oregon, Tennessee, and Creighton, securing their spot in the gold power pool for day 2. The B team took 2nd in their pool and fought in a challenge match for gold, where they lost a very close match with Kent State. On day 2, the A team took 2nd in the power pool by beating Clemson and moved on to fight for gold on day 3 as one of the top 16 teams! On day 3, the A team lost a controversial and nail biting 3-set match against SDSU, with the score in the final set being 15-17. The B team fought hard and took 2nd in Flight 2. We are so incredibly proud of our program and are sad to send off many of our seniors— but the friendships and memories made this year have us so excited to begin the next season!
4/12/25 - SCCVL League Championships
UCSD-A showed up and showed out for league championships, fighting and taking 2nd place in Women’s Division 1! The day started out with battles in pool play, with the team taking a close 2-set win over their 4th match against UCSB this season, and a 3-set win over Utah Valley. This launched us into the semi-finals, where we faced cross-town rivals SDSU, who we previously lost to for the WRC Championship. We sailed past them in 2 sets, ending 25-15 in the second set. We faced ASU in the championship game where we fell in 2 sets after a long, tiring day. Although we may not have taken home the title, we left Temecula with smiles on our faces as we reflected on our growth and progress throughout the season. From entering the fall classic with nearly half of our players missing and starting off the season unranked to fighting for championship titles these past 2 tournaments and clinching the 13th seed for Nationals, it is clear that our grit and determination this season has paid off and made us stronger as individuals and as a team. We are taking everything we have learned from this season and will be chasing gold at Nationals next week! GO TRITONS!
4/6/2025 - Spring Fling Fundraiser
We hosted our first ever Spring Fling fundraiser tournament! It was a fun way to get into the gym and have the community involved with our program. Adrianna Walker, Ashley Roben, Jadyn Tunnell, Christine Cid, Sophie Galova, Bella Cambell, and Megan Mitsunaga attended the fundraiser, and raised a total of $240! We can't wait until next year!
3/15/25 - SCCVL West Regional Cup
Both the women's teams did stellar this tournament! The A team took home 2nd place and the B team tied for 3rd! Both teams plowed through the competition during the first day, winning all of their games against SDSU-B, CSUSM-A, and more. This led to an exciting match-up between our very own teams in the semi-finals to determine which one of the teams would play in the championship. After a hard fought match, A team pulled through with the win in 2 sets to advance to play SDSU-A. Although the final match did not end in a win for both the A and B team after the semi-final match, this was a solid conclusion to the regular season for both and we are looking forward to facing these teams again in League Championships and at Nationals!
2/23/25 - SCCVL Division III Regionals
The B team battled it out this weekend, playing the top teams in the SCCVL. They fought hard in thrilling matches against UCLA and USC, but ultimately dropped both games in 3 sets. After this tournament, the B team ended up 7th in the rankings. This has us fired up for more competition on March 15th and 16th, where we will play in the West Regional Cup against challenging teams across all divisions!
2/23/25 - SCCVL Division I Regionals
The team made the journey up to UCLA this weekend to face the other half of the SCCVL. After a long day, they pulled out 2 wins, taking the win over CSUF 25-16 in both sets, and battling against USC, winning the game with a nail-biting score of 18-16 in the third set. At the end of that game, we met up with our former teammate to say hello and catch up! This tournament landed us with a 4th place ranking in the SCCVL and is where we begin in pool play for League Champs on April 12th. This has prepared us well for that day by familiarizing us with all our opponents, and now we are heading into the lab to start brainstorming improvement strategies, practicing new techniques, and polishing up on our skills.
2/1/25 - Regional Crossover
This marks the official start of SCCVL league play for both the A and B teams! This gave us the opportunity to play the out-of-state opponents in our leagues and fight for our spots at nationals. A team fought hard this weekend and went 4-2, taking tough wins against UCLA and U of A on day 1, and beating out GCU and NAU on day 2. B team went 2-2 on the weekend, beating AZ Christian on day 1 and GCU on day 2. The SCCVL is one of the toughest leagues in the nation and we are proud of keeping our spots in the top 8 in this league. This tournament prepared us well for round 2 against more teams coming up on the 23rd, where the A team will travel up to UCLA, and the B team will play on our home turf against teams like UCSB, USC, and SDSU!
1/25/25 - MLK Tournament Ends in Success
The MLK Invite was a successful tournament for both the A and B teams! A team finished as silver bracket champions, going 5-1 on the weekend, with the one loss being to the tournament champions. Two of the wins were over UCSB-A, the previous SCCVL Fall Classic champions. B team finished 2nd in the Bronze bracket, taking wins against UCI-A, CSU San Marcos, and Cal Poly Pomona. With full and solidified rosters for both teams and new coaching staff, this was an exciting tournament to begin the new year with!
11/23/24 - NCVF Beach Championships
Three UCSD pairs competed at this tournament, and all finished in the silver bracket one after the other! Pair 1, Levia and Bauer, ended up going 3-3 on the weekend and placed 3rd in silver, taking wins against UCSB, UCLA, and our 2nd pair for this tournament, Teresa and Ella. Teresa and Ella fought hard in their pools and lost some close matches, leading to them taking 4th in silver. Our 3rd pair, Lucia and Bella, also played tough matches and took the win in their final game against UCSB to take 5th in silver. All in all, this tournament provided tough competition with teams from around the country. This provided a thrilling and successful end to our first season of club beach volleyball here at UCSD and it has us excited for the next!
11/10/24 - SCCVL Fall Classic
Both teams traveled up to Temecula for SCCVL’s annual Fall Classic tournament. A team ended up going 4-3 and B team went 2-3 over the weekend. Both teams played well, with each pulling out 3-set wins over UC Irvine’s A team. In each team’s final bracket game, both teams went out with a fight, with A team losing its final set to Long Beach 30-32, and B team losing its final set to UC Riverside 26-28. The program got to play other teams from all around the West Coast, with teams traveling from as far as Colorado to come play. The diversity in teams allowed for both teams to gain exposure to different playing styles, physical advantages, and new faces. Fall Classic was a great first tournament for both teams and prepared us well for the packed schedule in the winter!
11/6/24 - SDSU Scrimmage
Both the A and B teams played against SDSU’s A and B teams. The two A teams played each other three times, and the two B teams also played each other three times. Of the three times, the A team went 1-2 and the B team went 2-1. Both teams took this time to experiment with different lineups and rotations, as well as to get everyone on the court in preparation for Fall Classic that weekend. The A team played close matches each time, as did the B team. In addition, each school’s A team played against the other school’s B team in order to provide variety in competition and to challenge each school’s B team. All in all, the scrimmage was a fun introduction to competition this year and has us all looking forward to playing with other SCCVL teams!
11/2/24 - CBVT League Tournament South Region
The team had a day of ups and downs, starting with a close match against SDSU that ended in a two-set loss, 18-21 and 19-21. Bouncing back, they dominated against PLNU with scores of 21-14 and 21-12, securing a solid win. In their final game, they faced SDSU again and, after a tough first set loss, managed an intense 22-20 comeback in the second. However, SDSU took the third set 15-9, leading to a hard-fought loss. The day wrapped up with one win and two close losses, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination and they are excited to start practicing for the upcoming Championship tournament!
10/19/24 - CBVT League Tournament
The Triton’s sent 4 pairs up to compete in Long Beach to open the year. The first team, Bauer and Levia, performed well but were dealt a tough hand going up against USC and UCLA who both have long established programs and a good beach volleyball pedigree. Hannah and Ella won 2 and lost 2, but their wins were both well earned as they fought through three sets for both matchups. Peyton and Lucia fought against tough opponents, but didn’t get much preparation for the tournament since they were subbed in for a different pair who couldn’t make it. The last team, Seini and Leslieli, played in the open (highest) division where they won a close match against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This was a successful and competitive first tournament for the program which will serve as a good foundation for building up to their next tournament.
4/20/24 - NCVF National Championships
Nationals is always the highlight of the season as it gives our teams a chance to see their hard work from the entire season come into fruition. This year was no exception as both our teams played countless hard fought matches and pulled off some incredible wins. While the competition was tough both our teams stepped up and showed up for one another. While we are sad the season has come to an end, we couldn’t have thought of a better way to celebrate the end of another great year! We are so grateful for all the support from our triton family and look forward to being back next year!
2/3/24 - SCCVL League Crossovers
Your favorite Tritons were back in Seal Beach this weekend battling it out in league crossovers. The blue team fought hard competing with UCLA (2 sets), UVU (3 sets), and USC (3 sets) but coming up short however they took down GCU, CSULB, and ASU with impeccable skill. The gold team found their rhythm after a few close losses to USC, GCU, ASU, and UCLA; they overcame many obstacles to defeat UCSB, NAU, MSMU, and UoA! We are so proud of the growth both teams experienced this tournament as everyone is starting to feel like a family. This was a major turning point in the season for the whole program!
1/20/24 - MLK Invite
This weekend was one filled with lots of volleyball and even more rain. The A team rounded off the weekend on six wins and two competitive losses both going to three sets. Day 1, the swept their first pool; then went 1-1 in their next pool. The day took an interesting turn going into the second round of pool play when it began to downpour to such an extreme that the ceiling began to leak over all the courts in the gym causing people to slip and slide across the court. This caused the entire gym to be put on pause for nearly two hours, yet everyone persevered and finished off the day excited for bracket-play on Sunday morning. Day two, the blue team lost the first match of the day in a close three sets but they ended off the day strong winning their next three matches. The gold team played many competitive matches the first day but came up just short in both rounds of pool play. Yet they did not let this discourage them and came out ready to leave it all on the court on Sunday morning. On day 2, the gold team won all their games, ending the tournament off on a high note. They ended the weekend with a record of 2-4. Both teams look forward to return to Seal Beach in two weeks for SCCVL League 1!
