HEALTH COACHING

Alexia Cervantes Health Coaching Coordinator
alexia@ucsd.edu

UCSD Recreation is proud to partner with Point Loma Nazarene University Masters of Kinesiology Integrative Wellness program to bring FREE Health Coaching to UCSD undergrad and graduate students.

A Health Coach is a trained professional who works with clients in a 1-1 virtual meeting. The goal of health coaching is to create long-lasting behavior change. Do you have a health related goal that you want to reach? Is there a habit you want to change? Do you know what to do and how to get to your goal, but you just haven’t fully committed, or something keeps getting in the way? Health coaching is for you! Try it for FREE as a UCSD student.

What can you expect from your health coach?

Your health coach will provide a non judgmental space, and work collaboratively with you on your journey of self-discovery.

While honoring that you are the expert in your own life, your health coach will always view you through a positive lens, and believe wholeheartedly in your ability to make long-lasting behavior change.

Health coaching sessions will be goal-oriented. Your health coach will guide you down the path of discovering your own motivation for the health behavior changes you want to make.

What should you not expect from your health coach?

While your health coach wishes to be helpful and may hold knowledge related to diet and exercise, during a health coaching session they will stay in the scope of practice for a health coach.
This means:
Your health coach will not provide any direct fitness programming or advice.
Your health coach will not prescribe or design any meal plans. They will not recommend or advise on what you should or should not eat. For a free 15-minute nutrition consultation, schedule an appointment with the Recreation Dietitian HERE

Your health coach knows that long-lasting behavior change has to come from within YOU, which is why they won’t tell you what you “should” do. Instead, they will create a positive, non-judgmental space and guide you in uncovering your motivation for change, and helping you discover the best way for you to reach better health.

Health Coach services are available to undergrad and graduate students only for a total of 6 sessions. Not sure if Health Coaching is right for you? Consider taking our Self-Discovery Guide. Click the link below to schedule your appointment.
