UC San Diego men’s club soccer team clinched their second Fall league title in three years with a 2-1 home victory against UC Irvine on October 21st! The pitch at Warren Field was quite dreadful as the muddy surface made in difficult for both teams to operate. Unfortunately, this resulted in UCI scoring first and holding onto a 1-0 lead through half time. Early in the second half however, Jose Enrique stepped up in his home debut and scored a great goal to level proceedings. A few minutes later, a bit of madness ensued as UCI’s striker was sent off after kicking out at UCSD keeper Vik Renduchintala and punching defender Imran Matin. 10 against 11 was just too easy for UCSD and they dominated the rest of the game with Rohan Oprisko scoring the winner with a clinical header. Time and time again this season, the Tritons showed grit to fight from behind to earn a victory. With this result, UCSD clinches the fall title without losing a single game. 5W-1D-0L.
