This past Friday, February 3rd, the UC San Diego Women’s Lacrosse Team had their first season opener against CSU San Marcos. The game went back and forth with a goal from UC San Diego followed by another by San Marcos. Goals in the first half from Janet Gleason, Nicole Goodwin, Demi Greiner, Danielle Viviani and Michaela Juels. At the beginning of the second half, San Marcos pulled ahead by 3 goals, victory slipping out of the Trition’s hands. From there on the Tritons went on an impressive 6-0 run against San Marcos with goals from Jen Daluz, Jiyoung Yun, Janet Gleason, and Rachel Teitelbaum. The Tritons finished off the game with an 11-9 win against San Marcos. Throughout the game the Tritions boasted impressive transitions, team effort and defensive stops. Beating San Marcos in their first league game was the first step for the Tritons to head to Nationals.
