The UC San Diego Tritons faced off against the Chapman Panthers this Friday October 30th in a tough 7-3 loss. The Tritons had a rough start as they fell down 3-0 during the first period. But after the first intermission they came back strong in the second, scoring three consecutive goals. Captain Dylan Shives started the scoring off a beautiful snipe shot against the Chapman goaltender. Following this Aaron Gunn tipped in a beautiful pass from defensemen Patrick Salmas, becoming Aaron’s first goal of the season in his rookie year here at UC San Diego. Entering the third the game was tied 3-3, and at first UC San Diego met Chapman shot for shot, blow for blow. But eventually Chapman broke through the Triton’s defense and sniped a puck past Peter Simonsen, who stood on his head the vast majority of the game. Following this Chapman managed to convert on a five on three power play after UC San Diego was penalized twice. This turned out to be the nail in the coffin as Chapman scored another goal and an empty netter to end the game 7-3. It was another tough loss for the Tritons, who wish to end their current losing streak. They will face off against Cal Lutheran in their season home opener this Friday, November 6th.
