This past Easter weekend, UC San Diego’s Club Swim Team attended the USC Spring Invitational along with UCI, UCLA, and of course USC. Despite bringing along a much smaller team this time around with 9 total swimmers, UC San Diego still had a great performance!
The women’s team started the meet off well with a solid 2nd place finish in the 200 medley relay with Esmeralda Naranjo, Vylana Trang and Danielle Dun. Continuing the trend, the women’s team had another solid relay race in the 200 Free with a 2nd place finish. On the men’s team, they managed to pull off an exciting 1st place finish in the 200 Free as well with Ryan Lee, Ryan Sitar, Kotachi Liu, and Christopher Lo and also managed to win the 400 Free Relay as well!
There were a lot of notable individual swims as well. Danielle Dunn placed 3rd in the 200 Free with a 2.28.71. Esmeralda Naranjo had a fantastic swim in the 50 Free with a 27.63 as well as a 1st place finish in the 50 Fly with a 30.02! In the 200 IM, Kotachi Liu placed 3rd with a 2:17.68 and also raced his way to a 2nd place finish in the 100 IM with a 1.03.59!
Stand out swims were from Vylana Trang with her two 1st place finishes in the 50 Breast and the 100 Breast, respectively, and from Ryan Lee as he reigned over the meet with his 1st place finish in the 50 Breast, 50 Fly, and 50 Back while also helping to lead the men’s team to both their 1st place finishes in the relays!
Overall, it was a fantastic meet and a huge team bonding experience!
