UC San Diego Continues Success in Riverside
Coming off a successful trip to Arizona the previous weekend, UC San Diego Men’s Club Soccer looked determine to continue their undefeated league form at UC Riverside on Sunday. The Tritons quickly took control of the game early in the first half but failed to convert their early chances. With about ten minutes remaining in the half, San Diego earned a free kick on the right side of the Riverside half. Senior Captain Henry Cullen delivered a searching cross into the UCR penalty box that found the head of junior forward Jonah Gooden who outleapt his mark and directed a header into the top corner. Unfortunately, Gooden collided with the defender on his way down and had to leave the game to receive medical attention.
The second half saw UC San Diego add to their lead with goals from Cullen and senior winger Garen Arabian. UCR managed to grab one goal back in the final minutes of play but could not stir the Tritons from a comfortable road victory of three goals to one. UC San Diego will look to continue their winning streak next Sunday against UC Irvine at Warren Field at 11AM.
