The lady tritons gave the Northern California teams a shock when they tied for third in gold division. It all started with a long day of traveling on a Friday. Our Ladies flew to the bay and made their way to the Keller’s house where they got accommodated with the Kellers and their precious dog.
It was a new day, Saturday, and our girls got picked up by the lovebirds Taylor and Phil in a soccer mom van. After a HYPEEEEE ride, the tritons made their way into UCD Pavilion where the tournament took place. The lady tritons got a good start defeating CSU Monterey Bay. After a somewhat easy game, our ladies faced Chico State putting up a good fight, but unfortunately losing to the wildcats. Brushing off this loss, the lady tritons came back even stronger to battle the former national champions, USF. Once again, our ladies gave up a good battle but lost the game and finished third in their pool. For a final game on Saturday our lady tritons faced UCLA-B in crossovers; of course our ladies pulled through and got a big ole W against the Bruins, who have been shocked by our tritons way too many times this season. After a long day of volleyball, most of our lady tritons went back to the Keller’s for some mashed potatoes and more team bonding and cuddles.
One more day in the bay, and our ladies once again got to ride in the cool soccer mom van. Sunday was a better day for our tritons kicking off the day with a win against the host (coughs) UC Davis. Then, our ladies faced SSU on a very long and disputed game. The first set was triton territory, but then the seawolves saw the light of the moon and hauled at our tritons who played furiously and almost won the second set of 31 points thanks to Bella and Ryley who played not their regular positions. On the last set, the game was very close once again but unfortunately the odds were played toward the seawolves who won the game. After this unfortunate lost, our lady tritons got second in their power pool. In playoffs, our lady tritons dominated SDSU. After this win, our ladies faced USF,once again, in gold division semifinals. Our ladies once again battled against the dons, who beat our lady tritons in two very close game of 25-23 in both sets. After another long but successful day of volleyball, our ladies got to ride the soccer mom van one last time to then fly back to SD.
PS: thank you to the Keller’s for being the best and welcoming our lady tritons to their home.
