UC San Diego Holds Down The Bay
The UC San Diego Dragon Boat Team, just this weekend of April 9th and 10th, has come out to Mission Bay to demonstrate just how far the values of “Pride, Tradition, and Passion,” spelled on the back of their jerseys, can take a team in the 7th annual San Diego Dragon Boat Race. The last time UC San Diego competed for this particular race, namely, the 6th Annual San Diego Dragon Boat Race, they came out first in the College Division, second in the Mixed Division A, and first in the Mixed Division C. This time around, after volunteering all of Saturday, the team has shown their fervor for the sport by placing first in the College Division while also taking first in the Mixed Division A, second in the Open Division, and second in the Women’s Division. The forecast stated that rain would fall on the site, but instead, good weather blessed the entire race site for the duration of the competition, filling the team with spirit. At the end, the team definitely had something to be proud of, for they had something to show for all of their hard work and perseverance. With the veterans seeing how much further they can go while the newer recruits begin to affirm their growth as paddlers, the whole team remains filled with determination. The forecast stated that rain would fall on the team, but instead, good weather blessed the entire race site for the duration of the competition, filling the team with spirit. Now, the UC San Diego Dragon Boat Team gears up for the upcoming Baby Long Beach Race which is in just under two weeks away. Never complacent, the team remains humble and in preparation for more.
