10/12/24 - CBVT Central Vs. South Crossover

This was the first tournament of the CBVT season, marking the first time UCSD has competed as an official club beach team. This took place at Rosie’s Dog Beach and consisted of 14 different schools competing. UCSD sent three pairs of players listed as a first, second, and third seed to face off against UCLA, USC, and LMU. Our players were fired up knowing they were creating a beach volleyball legacy that would hopefully succeed them long after they were gone. Our first-seed team played UCLA, winning dominantly and starting off 2-0. They would continue this trend, taking down USC and LMU and finishing the day undefeated with a record of 6-0.

Our second seed team had a slow start, failing to take a set from UCLA and going down 0-2. They would make up for this loss by finishing the day 4-2, defeating USC and LMU with a calm and composed mindset. It was a similar story with our third seed team. The mighty Tritons couldn’t take a set from the third-seed Bruins, but would also make up for it by later taking down USC and LMU, finishing 4-2. The UCSD men’s beach volleyball club is readily preparing for its fast-approaching national tournament. We’re excited to keep on throwing our hats in the sand and showing our competition what UC Slam Diego is all about.

The tournament also served as a valuable learning experience for the entire team, allowing them to assess both their strengths and areas for improvement. While the competition was fierce, the Tritons showcased their resilience and determination. The event was a testament to the growth of UCSD's beach volleyball program and the commitment of its athletes. As a new team, every match was a chance to build chemistry, refine their skills, and set a foundation for future success. The team’s positive attitude and camaraderie were evident both on and off the sand, making them a force to be reckoned with.

Looking ahead, UCSD is setting its sights on the national tournament, where the stakes will be even higher. The players are motivated by their early success and are focusing on fine-tuning their strategies and techniques. They understand that the road to the top is filled with challenges, but they are prepared to face them head-on. With their unwavering passion and team spirit, UC Slam Diego is ready to make a strong impact and continue to build a lasting legacy in the world of collegiate beach volleyball. The journey has just begun, and the future looks bright for UCSD’s beach volleyball program.
