10/21/23 - UCSD first tournament win

    Semi-Final UCSD vs USC

This was a close game where USC batted first and scored 139 in 20 overs. They got off to a good start, but Pramesh with an excellent spell of 4 overs pulled the game back with 2 crucial wickets. Vishnu ended the innings well, taking 3 wickets. UCSD pulled back the game really well and now it was time to chase the target. UCSD got off to a shaky start, losing crucial wickets in the start, but from 46/4 Pramesh and Parth pulled back the game well with a very important partnership of 45 runs. Parth ended up with 59 runs finishing the game with Vishnu, leading to us to our first ever victory against USC !

    Final - UCSD vs UCLA

This was the second time UCSD reached the finals of SoCal Shield, so the hopes of winning were high. UCLA won the toss and elected to bat first. The UCSD bowlers produced a dream start by reducing UCLA to 44/6 in 8 overs with Parth picking his first five-wicket haul. However, UCLA managed to get to 114/8 in their 20 overs. With UCSD, 115 runs away from victory, Himanshu smashed 89(55) and demolished UCLA’s bowling attack. UCSD won by 8 wickets and lifted their first SoCal Shield. This was a historic win for UCSD!
