Become a Team Building Facilitator

The UCSD Challenge Course hires and trains its facilitators. Ideal applicants for this position have a combination of emotional intelligence, technical aptitude, and a passion for supporting individual and group development.

Important Dates: 

We recruit and train throughout the year, with trainings occurring once a quarter. Pending results of the interview you will receive an invitation to Experience Day. You must attend Experience Day before participating in the challenge course training.

Application Process:

1. Group Interviews - Following your application, group interviews will be scheduled based on interviewee availability in the weeks prior to the experience day and then training. The Challenge Course office will let you know your interview date and time.
2. Experience Day - Here you will spend the day experiencing the Challenge Course, learning the details of what it is like to work for the Challenge Course, and determining if this is a good fit for you.
3. Training - Qualified applicants will attend a 40-plus-hour training. Future employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of training. Attending training itself does not guarantee work.
4. Shadowing - Following the free training, new facilitators will begin shadowing experienced facilitators and can expect to work between 6-30 hours/week during our busy season of May through October. Hours vary from November through June.
