USCSA Far West Regional Competition
Over the long weekend, the team headed up to beloved Mammoth Mountain to battle it out against all teams in the far west region of the United States. Huge stakes this weekend as top finishes would guarantee qualification into the national championships in March.
For our male skiers, the lovely Varun Suklikar fired up those jets in the Alpine events with a performance allowing him to qualify as the outstanding individual for nationals! The male freeski squad had qualification performances from top A team athletes Ben Scheerger, Seiji Minowada, Morgan Seaburg, Guy Zamir, and Austin Calza.
For our female skiers, Jordan Flood once again dominated the GS course podiuming with 2nd place in the event. In the slalom, she placed 4th overall. For rail jam, we had top performances from Adelka Hancova in 4th and Alyssa Fleschner right behind in 5th with qualification by Elli Sandford, Tean Brooks, and Loulou Mach.
For our female snowboarders, we are stoked to take away the team win in GS where athletes Sierra Scarlett and Josephine Nguyen carried the team through 2nd and 4th place finishes, securing UCSD top spot in the event. We also had a podium finish from Josephine in 2nd in rail jam and qualification runs from Clio Goodwin, Sierra, Mia Bullaro, and Trinity Leahy. For the men, we had a qualification performance from Andrew Dunker in rail jam.
Overall, we are super stoked with the team's performance in the regional qualifiers. Time for the final push of training to be fully prepared for the upcoming USCSA national competition in the upcoming week.
