This past Saturday the UCSD Women’s Lacrosse Team came back from a tough loss against Concordia the week before with an amazing win against CSU Long Beach (15-8). The Tritons were quite upset after their close game with Concordia and their low rankings in their division.

The game boasted multiple outstanding performances, spread around the entire field. On attack, the Tritons had goals from 6 people. The spread of scoring represents a sharp difference from last year, when many of the goals came from 2-3 players. Danielle Viviani had 3 goals, Janet Gleason had a whopping 5 goals, Nicole Goodwin with 1 goal, Shivani Das with her first 3 goals of the season, Kellen Peddicord with 1 goal, and Michaela Juels with 2 goals. In addition 4 of those goals also assisted by Michaela Juels.

In the midfield the draw control improved greatly with 4 draw controls from Shivani Das, 3 from Michaela Juels and Janet Gleason. Kellen Peddicord, Demi Greiner, Shivani Das, Michaela Juels, and Laura Darken each had over 5 ground balls.

On the Defensive end, Hannah Wolff and Laura Darken caused the offensive end to turn the ball over two times each. Our goalie, Maria McCavvitt, continues to improve exponentially, and demonstrated an outstanding performance against Long Beach.

The Tritons look forward to this weekend, where they will be travelling to Las Vegas to play Sonoma State and Northern Arizona University! Go Tritons!
