    UCSD vs USD

It had been two years since any UCSD lacrosse player had stepped on Muir field to play an opponent, let alone cross-town rival USD. The upperclassmen, fired up for this long-anticipated moment, made sure to let their young team know the weight of this situation. With a cloudless night overhead and a buzzing crowd anxiously watching from the sideline, the game was set to begin.

From the beginning, UCSD sophomore Austin Baum lit up the face-off  X giving the Tritons control of the game. His quick hands and fast feet allowed Freshman Austin Ortel (3G, 3A) and Alex Franz (3G) to pick apart the Torero’s defense, with Junior Finn Reid (2G, 2A) setting the pace for a quick and steady lead. As UCSD dominated offensively, the team could not have won without tough defensive stops from Goalie Bill Cui who blocked a majority of USD’s shots. This team full of talent both young and old will certainly be fun to watch for the season to come.
