UCSD vs UCLA (8-9
It’s Lacrosse season for UC San Diego, and after 2 years of no games due to Covid, the D2 Tritons were eager to start off the season strong with a cross divisional game against the strong D1 UCLA Bruins. The tritons started out strong the first quarter with a 2-0 lead, but the bruins did not back down and came back to tie and eventually take the lead. It was a back and forth battle of offense and defense, with the top scorer of UCSD Nick Kro producing great offensive looks and scoring a couple goals against a solid Bruins defense. Regardless, UCLA’s offense was having great off-ball movement to achieve their 7 goals against the aggressive Tritons defense.
At the end of the half UCSD trailed UCLA 4 to 7. With the odds against them, UCSD came out of the half swinging, being able to answer the Bruins with 2 goals to bring the score to 6 to 7. After an intense and competitive final half, the UCLA Bruins came out on top to win 9 to 8. Though UCSD lost, they were able to compete and stand against a competitive D1 team, showing that they will have a promising season ahead of them.
