    UCSD vs UCI

Continuing their hot win streak, the UCSD men's lacrosse team was fired up for their game against UCI, one of their three opponents in their D2 conference. Aside from a few rocky plays on defense, the Tritons were on fire the entire game, scoring a beautiful 23 goals over the course of the game outscoring UCI’s 7 goals. Lead scorer, Nick Krolikowski, had 6 goals, one of them coming off of an ESPN-worthy dodge, as well as 2 assists. Alex Franz, Austin Ortel, Finn Reid, Trevor Marshall, and Slater Helbock all put up several goals as well. Mainly a possession game, the Tritons held the ball for the vast majority of the game, thanks to face off man, Austin Weinshelbaum, winning 19/27 of his face-offs. Another crucial element of this game was goalie, Haoxuan Cui, who saved the majority of shots thrown at him. Towards the end of the match, thanks to a comfortable cushion the Tritons had given themselves, non-starter players were able to get in and get some playing time, and one of those players, Eli Chavez, had a beautiful drive that almost resulted in a goal. Overall, the win against UCI was a nice addition to the Tritons’ record, as well as an affirmation: that when the Tritons play “UCSD lacrosse” as head Coach Al likes to say, they can play spectacularly.
