This past Saturday, the Women’s Rugby Tritons faced off against their final opponent of the season, the University of Arizona. It was the final game of the season and luckily it was a home game so a bunch of people could come out to support and cheer on the team, but more importantly they could celebrate our graduating seniors Raelynn Holmes, Chloe Belman, Elle Baum, Amara Sengamphan, Morgan Bundy, and Sana Gold. The weather wasn’t the best and the game ultimately resulted in a loss to U of A 20-24, but the Tritons scored the most points they have this season and made their seniors proud with the progress they’ve achieved over the season. 

The first half was full of great plays - especially for the Tritons. We were able to keep U of A cornered on their half of the field for a majority of the half-time. With great communication between all the players the Tritons were able to score 2 tries. One of our amazing seniors, Chloe Belman broke through the defensive line and scored the first try of the game! Following that Lina Yabuta scored another fantastic try. This meant that at half-time the Tritons were leading 10-0. After a little mishap where the teams managed to start playing without a ref, the game was back on. The Tritons put up quite an offense, managing to score 2 more tries. Chloe broke through the defensive line again to score her 2nd try of the day and speedy senior Sana Gold out-paced U of A to score one more try. Unfortunately, U of A turned the game around for the last half and were able to score 24 points. Nevertheless, it was a memorable game for our seniors and we were all proud of how much the Tritons have improved over the season.
