Wednesday evening Triton’s Lacrosse took on the NCAA D3 team Redlands University in a friendly scrimmage. Their opponents were a strong team with great technical skill and game sense, but that didn’t discourage the lady laxers from giving them a run for their money.
Every Triton on the field played with heart and worked hard to keep up. Though it was a tough battle, the Tritons were able to get some shots on goal and our defense showed their strength. Attackers Nicole Goodwin and Audrey Nunez showed great initiative for our motion offense. Our goal keeper, Maria McCavitt Malvido, held her own at her post as Redlands had some really great offensive sets, as well as our developing defensive players. Overall, this scrimmage was an opportunity to solidify the team chemistry before their season opener later that week against Concordia. Head coach, Gabby Kraszewski, was able to pin point exactly what the weaknesses were, including crease roll defense and fast breaks, to focus on the following practices to tie the team together for the start of their season.
Hosting Redlands for the second time is always a learning experience and has pushed us to be a better team by playing tough competition!
