UCSD vs Point Loma Nazarene University

On another great evening of lacrosse, the Triton lacrosse team took on an inexperienced but hungry Point Loma, fresh off of upsetting USD. In front of a large crowd of fans, UCSD came out hard as usual with a 7-1 lead ending the first quarter, driven by dominating possession time and ground balls. UCSD faltered in the second quarter, letting overconfidence and frustrations with officiating get in the way of their systematic lacrosse. The Tritons went into the second half needing to redeem themselves with the score at 9-6. They started the half strong, led by freshman attack Austin Ortel with 4 goals and 5 assists, as well as contributions from Finn Reid, Alex Franz, a rock-solid defensive line, and Max Arias, getting his first two goals of the season this game. A comfortable lead allowed starters to rest at the end of the game, with many non-starters putting in quality minutes to finish with the final score of 16-10. UCSD goes into the weekend with a trip to Northern California, looking to show the league what a threat they are with games against UC Santa Cruz and Saint Mary’s.
