    UCSD VS ASU

In their last home game of the season, UCSD faced off against ASU in an intense match on superbowl Sunday. With the spirit of competition in the air, our UCSD women’s rugby team began the game with arguably the best start of this season. Yesenia Montoya-Chavez scored a try in the first five minutes of the game, while playing 8 man for the first time. The Tritons kept up the intensity during a perilous first half. An injury in the second half led to Sara Tsai stepping up in an unexpected substitution. She came in with high energy and welcomed ASU with several solid tackles. Jelly Stuczynski and Millicent Sampson-Eves led the defensive with impressive and consistent tackles throughout the game. Roslin Amezuca had great runs, gaining meters and requiring a handful of opposing players to finally bring her down. Ysenia Montoya-Chavez ended the game with two tries, and Emily Brown with one try and one conversion. The final score was 17-27, a loss for the Tritons, but a win for any fans watching. The intense, evenly matched fight was the real game to watch this Sunday. After the game the team celebrated their seniors and handed them hand made posters catered to each individual senior!
