    UCSD Secures the Win Against Local USD Team

    The Tritons and USD Toreros had faced off this fall for a preseason scrimmage, however both teams stepped on the field Wednesday night unsure what to expect. The Tritons came in hot with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes. The Toreros struggled to keep up, adding 1 to the scoreboard by the end of the first quarter and 4 more by the end of the game. USD gave UCSD a run for its money on draws, coming up with a few. Still, UCSD kept up the pace and dominated on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field with 16 draw wins. The team also logged 6 turnovers and 13 ground balls. The two top-scorers were Junior Captain Ellen Jurgens and Sophomore Sophia Terenik with 5 goals each. Other notable mentions include Junior Captain Delainey Iles (4 goals), Freshman Emily Schittino (3 goals), Sophomore Kayla Tracy (2 goals), and Junior Sarah Brown (1 goal). The Tritons finished the game with a 20-5 win and will prepare to leave this Friday for four games aT the annual Santa Barbara Shootout tournament.
