With the help of a nail-biting 2-1 win against UCSB at home, UCSD Field Hockey went into their away game in Santa Barbara with hopes of scoring sooner and more often — a goal that they accomplished fantastically. Despite a slow start, UCSD was able to come alive the second half to beat Santa Barbara 6-1. The score was 1-0 going into the second half of the game and UCSB was able to score a goal to tie things up early on. Though Coach Amanda Warford noted it took getting scored on for her players to wake up, UCSD was able to pull through and score 5 additional goals, while also improving on the defensive end to ensure they weren’t scored on again. Alberto Montilla Ochoa had another great game with an impressive 4 goals, while Sami Brinton and Sarah Martin each contributed another goal. UCSD walked away from the game with a proud win, made even better by securing a place in this year’s playoffs at Cal Poly SLO. UCSD remains in first place in the southern conference, with the goal of keeping their undefeated status as they take on USC again this upcoming weekend in their last game at home.
