UCSD Sailing hosts the annual Open/Frosh-Soph Regatta
Last weekend, our very own UCSD sailing team hosted the Frosh/Soph regatta at the Mission Bay Yacht Club. The event was eventful and enjoyable both on and off the water (minus the usual right-of-way kerfuffles).
Both Saturday and Sunday had light but shifty winds, but we were still able to get through two rotations for each division. In the open division a Triton boat placed 6th and in the Frosh/Soph division our team placed 7th and 10th. However, nothing beats the fact that our new sailors got to try their hand at what racing feels like, and the general consensus seems to be that a lot was learned.
Meanwhile, on land, our rivals became our friends (expect for whoever was snatching lunches) and we made the best of the sunny San Diego weather and played games of volleyball, spikeball, and even made use of the amazing MBYC waterslide.
