UCSD Rivalrous Over Strong League Opponent
The Tritons arrived in Phoenix late Friday night and woke up early the next morning to take on their first league game against NAU. The last time the two teams played was on Muir Field where Tritons pulled out the victory only one goal ahead. However, this time things were much different. With consistent draw controls, the Tritons maintained possession throughout the first quarter putting 8 on the scoreboard and holding NAU at 0. NAU came back and won the next quarter, however, it wouldn’t be enough to stop the Tritons who regrouped at halftime to maintain the lead. Freshman Goalie Lindsay Rubin had a particularly strong performance, finishing the game with 14 saves. Junior Gillian Husovsky took the top-scorer title for the game with 5 goals. Other notable mentions include Junior Captain Delainey Iles (3 goals), Junior Captain Ellen Jurgens (3 goals), Sophomore Sophia Terenik (3 goals), Sophomore Kayla Tracy (3 goals), and Sophomore Karli Adams (1 goal). The Tritons finished the game in victory with a 18-11 win over NAU.
