UCSD place top 4 in all of WCSA in season finale
The WCSA spring playoffs. Teams from all over the west coast came to compete for the top spot in all of WCSA, and only one could take home the trophy.
In their first group stage match, the Tritons thrashed CSU Chico 5-1. Although the first half ended in 0-0, UCSD came alive in the second half as forward Kalani Takamura scored FIVE GOALS to secure a great first win.
UCSD's second match came against a team they've never played before: University of Washington. UW took an early lead on a lucky goal in which UW wasn't even meaning to shoot. However, the Triton's kept their composure and score two quick team goals to gain control of the game. The second half would be scoreless for a final score of 2-1 Tritons.
In their final group stage match UCSD played their long time rival SDSU. Similar to Chico, no goals were scored in the first half for either team. However, the Triton's would easily control the second half with three easy goals, and although SDSU managed to net one themselves it was not enough to mount any kind of comeback. UCSD win 3-1
With three group stage wins, UCSD played UCSB in the semis, who they previously beat 3-1 in league. In short, UCSD missed a lot of good chances and Santa Barbara did not. Only one goal was scored all game but the Tritons should have had at least 3. Final score: 1-0 UCSB.
In the constellation game, UCSD went up against University Oregon, and decided to make a couple changes. The Tritons played an unconventional 3-2-3-2 and ended up scoring within the first 14 seconds of the game. Later on, Koosha Jadbabaei would score a penalty to extend the lead to 2-0. Unfortunately, UO would score 2 on the Tritons and the game would eventually go straight to PKs, where Oregon would win it 4-3.
