This Friday, the UCSD Men’s Rugby had their first home game against Point Loma Nazerene University. With PLNU as their next challenger, the Tritons needed a win to make sure that they have a spot winning in the league as they still have a shot in the standings. After the first kickoff and a minor upset, PLNU scored on the Tritons and the Tritons immediately woke up. After consecutive drives through the PLNU defense, the Tritons were able to slip Ryan Morgan through to score and Ryan Callahan subsequently kicked the conversion to take the lead over PLNU. After catching another kickoff and fighting through, George McMahon was able to put down another try to pat the lead over PLNU, with Ryan Callahan converting another kick. The Tritons were on a roll and Ryan kicked another ball through the posts to further pat the lead for the Tritons. Padraig Madden was able to score another for the Tritons shortly after. Although the Tritons scored a lot, the game was not over since PLNU was able to score another try at the end of the half.

The second half of the game was much more back and forth with PLNU on the offensive and the Tritons trying to recover in the second half. The lead was still large, but the game was still close since PLNU was the first scorer in the half, bringing them up to 3 tries. The Tritons knew that they needed to score because there was still a lot of time in the game for a reverse sweep. The Tritons had Sean Martinez slip through the defense to secure the game in the second half for the Tritons. Ryan was able to convert the last kick to make the game finish at a hefty lead with the Tritons winning at 29-15.
