UCSD Last Game of Fall Quarter Against UCLA

UCSD women’s club soccer faced UCLA in their final game of fall quarter on November 5th. This was senior captain Erika Braun’s last game with the team due to her upcoming graduation.

UCSD came out strong in the 1st half, attacking from the wings. Triton goalie Grace Taylor made great saves from corner kicks and set pieces. In the last minutes of the 1st half, defender Naomi Araujo got fouled in the box during a corner kick and UCSD was given a penalty kick. Erika Braun took the penalty kick and slotted it to the right side of the goal, giving UCSD a lead of 1-0 against UCLA to conclude the half.

In the 2nd half of the game, UCSD came out with new substitutions. Allison Lee came in as goalie, and made some great saves of her own. With fresh-legged attacking wing players and forwards, they continued to attack UCLA. The Tritons came close to doubling their lead several times but did not have luck on their side. Nevertheless, the defense held up strong until the final whistle to maintain the 1-0 lead.

UCSD defeated UCLA 1-0 in their final game of the quarter.
