On January 20th 2018, the UCSD Badminton team gathered about 20 members to go and compete in UCI’s annual one-day tournament, Yonex Anteater Collegiate Championship (ACC). This is the largest number of participants from UCSD that have ever competed in ACC, combining both team returners and newcomers. It was the perfect opportunity for members to bond together while competing and cheering for each other. Many UCSD Badminton team members achieved great results in the tournament and brought back medals for the team. Tiffany Truong and Cindy Chan, Douglas Pan as well as Ali Viettry all achieved the gold medal in their respective events, while Helen Fu and Hortense Le, Kyle Ng and Justin Yur all obtained a silver medal. Other pairs also reached their own event’s semi-finals. These achievements were the result of many hours of practice and self-motivation. Overall, the tournament was a successful event that brought team members closer together.

Unfortunately, Amanda Lee injured her knee during a game and had to forfeit her quarter final in D mixed doubles and semifinal in D women’s doubles. Her partners and fellow team members were able to take care of her and helped her rest for the remaining time.
