    On September 24, the Tritons traveled to the prestigious Mangrum Track and Field to play San Marcos. Last season the two teams clashed in what ended as a HEARTBREAKING tie to San Marcos, perhaps due to a lack of Triton discipline, accountability, and responsibility. CSU San Marcos opened the scoring early, capitalizing on a UCSD defensive error on a corner kick. However, the Tritons did not lose any morale and picked up more and more steam as the half went on. Despite multiple opportunities to score, UCSD unfortunately could not find the back of the net. In the second half, the Triton's poor finishing luck continued (as per usual). To make matters worse, San Marcos would score a second goal on a counterattack. Through all of this, the Tritons only dominated possession more and more, and by the end of the match the ball rarely entered the UCSD half. Sadly, games are won by goals and not possession, meaning CSUSM would emerge victorious after the 90 minutes.
