UCSD completed the first weekend of spring league with another victory against CSU San Marcos. This was no easy game however as the Triton’s started very flat footed and found themselves down 2-0 within the first twenty minutes. They stayed cool and composed despite losing and slowly but surely chipped away at the deficit. A fortunate first half penalty and a tap in brought the teams level at the break. Throughout the second half UCSD showed their superiority by dominating the game and possessing San Marcos. As the half went on it seemed like this was not going to be UCSD’s day as chance after chance went by with nothing going in the net. San Marcos were hanging on by a thread for the full 45 minutes until the 90th minute when the Triton’s broke the deadlock. A wonderfully lofted ball by Firas Eid over the San Marcos back line was brought down beautifully by the chest of Kenan Mesic who took a touch toward goal and cut it back for Christian Gunther to stab home. A sigh of relief by the away side as the Tritons come away with all 3 points!
