The UCSD Gymnastics team had a great time at SDSU’s Montezuma Classic! We competed against gymnasts from SDSU, UCLA, and USC. On the men’s team, Hakob Abajian won 2nd place on the floor and rings exercises, and Kyle Thackston won 1st place on the parallel bars! Kyle also hit his first pommel horse routine of the season and placed 2nd. On the women’s team, Kaela Wong won 1st place on the vault for level 6, and Elaine Silverman won 1st place on the vault and uneven bars. Because they finished their meet early, all UCSD men decided to attempt a beam routine for everyone’s amusement. They need some work, but the potential is there. Lastly, big shout out for sophomore Orianna Kou; this was her first gymnastics meet!
