This past weekend your favorite men’s club volleyball team was able to pull off a second place finish at the SCCVL league champs going into nationals. Earning a silver 2nd place trophy was no easy task however. Losing their first match in 3 to LBSU meant having to win their next match against UCSB in 2 in order to stay alive for contention to win the tournament. UCSD was able to pull it off however and slammed UCSB back to Santa Barbara with an impressive display of defense, energy, and grit. In the first round of playoffs the Tritons faced off against CSUN. Getting a little bit of redemption from the previous round of SCCVL play UCSD destroyed the Matadors in two straight sets. Then in the semis UCSD played CSUN’s B team and easily advanced to the finals. Although we lost to UofA in the finals, UCSD had an extremely successful tournament and is looking forward to winning a national championship this year at St. Louis
