On Feb 17th and 18th, the gentlemen of UC Slam Diego took the long drive up to Davis for the annual UC Davis bid tournament. Hosting many of the members of UCSD was the incredible Green family. Despite Tim (das boot) Green not even playing, they hosted us, fed us scrumptious food, and gave us a place to stay, providing an amazing sauna to relax in. But enough of the Green’s–let’s get to volleyball.
UCSD started off the first day of competition strong, easily slamming past each team in its pool in 2 straight games (a feat that is rarer then one might think).Day 2 continued to be successful for the Tritons as they slammed through their power pool with ease, using a rotating lineup that included almost everyone on the team. Finally reaching the quarterfinals, the Tritons fell to UCSB B who should be UCSB A as they ended up almost winning the tournament. Although we didn’t win the tourney, UC Slam Diego went 6-1 for a successful weekend and is looking forward to competing the rest of the year.
