    UCLA Invitational Fall 2022

UCSD competed in their first meet of the season at UCLA, and it was a great success with many amazing swims and records being broken. Overall, UCSD finished 3rd place out of the 13 teams competing with 728 total points, behind only Cal Poly and Cal Berkeley. The men took 2nd place with 490 points, just 25 points behind UC Berkeley, while the women took 5th place with 238 points.

There were several team records that were broken on both sides and some amazing swims:

    Women's side:

    Erin Swift - 200 Back (2:16.68), 1st place; 100 back (1:01.92), 2nd place

Erin Swift, Ryan Henry, Kaitlyn Chu, Morgan Rummelhoff - 200 Free Relay (1:45.52), 4th place

    Men's side:

    Garrett Feng - 50 Breast (27.03), 3rd place

    Mei Fukushima - 50 Back (25.14), 2nd place

    Eric Wang - 100 Breast (59.29), 4th place

There were also amazing swims on the men's side:

The quartet of Mei Fukushima, Kai Zeger, Christopher Rochez, and Ryan Lee placed 2nd in the 200 medley relay (1:37.27), behind Cal Berkeley.

    Anirudh Chandrasekaran - 200 Back (2:03.79), 2nd place; 100 Back (56.19), 2nd place

    Ryan Lee - 50 Free (21. 47), 2nd place; 100 Free (48.94), 3rd place

    Eric Wang - 200 IM (2:02.27), 3rd place

    Jaythan Dang - 200 Breast (2:16.52), 3rd place

Many swimmers were able to achieve personal bests in their events, and qualify for CCS Nationals as well. The team's first meet of the season at UCLA couldn't have started better than this and they look forward to carrying this momentum into future meets!
