UC San Diego vs UC Irvine

UC Irvine won the toss and decided to bat first on ARC Field in Irvine. The pitch quickly proved to be a tough one to bat on, as some balls stayed low while some caught extra bounce from the same areas. Batters had to adapt quickly and look for quick runs rather than aim for the boundaries. UCI started well despite losing one early wicket, reaching 33 within their 7 overs of powerplay. UCI managed to build partnerships and managed to get 155/6 at the end of their innings of 25 overs. The pitch conditions had worsened significantly by the start of the second innings, as the bounce had become more unpredictable due to the loosening mud after the gameplay of the first innings. UCI made a good decision when choosing to bat first, as UCSD lost 3 early wickets and scored only 14 runs within their powerplay. Despite a few partnerships here and there, UCI continued to build pressure by taking wickets and bowling to good lengths. UCSD managed to get to a total of 127/9 at the end of their 25 overs, which gave UCI a 28-run victory over UCSD. In two weeks, UCI will travel to UCSD to play in the tri-series, where UCSD will look for vengeance at Muir.
