UC San Diego Women’s Club Soccer began their season on Sunday, October 2nd with a home game against UC Santa Barbara that ended with a 4-0 loss for the Tritons. The game started off well balanced as both teams had their fair share of possession of the ball. San Diego’s defense played strong and at half time the game was tied 0-0. San Diego’s keeper, Amy Shwartz proved that nothing would get past her. What started off as an even match, soon fell apart as UCSB scored their first goal from a corner kick. The Tritons regrouped and maintained their position and had a few opportunities to score, but the ball could not hit the back of the net. The SB offense was able to put a few more goals behind the net before the game ended. Although the Tritons faced a tough loss, they never gave up. They pushed through and gave it their all until the 90th minute. San Diego was ultimately proud of their efforts and hard work. It may not have been the best way to start off the season, but that will give them the extra motivation to keep improving as a team.
