The Tritons hopped on a large bus and drove 8 hours west to the city of Tucson on February 4th. They were on a mission to secure 6 points from 2 games and stay in first place. There was no shortage of energy in the beginning from the Tritons. They created the majority of scoring chances in the first half, but couldn’t find the back of the net before halftime. Arizona were the opposite of creative. Long throws were the method of attack that posed a threat to the Triton defense. As time wound down, Arizona began to complain about every single refereeing decision. Quinn “Eggplant” Frantzen picked the pocket of the Wildcats left back and dribbled down the line, he rounded the center back, faced the keeper, and flicked a pass to Jon “Eggplant” Clausen who smashed the ball into the goal. The Tritons would hammer the final nail into the coffin 5 minutes later. Kenan “Eggplant” Mesic held the ball up at the top of the box and played a majestic pass to Quinn “Eggplant” Frantzen. Frantzen was mutilated by the Arizona defenders, but he was able to slide the ball across goal to Jon “Eggplant” Clausen who slotted the orb into the net for his brace. UC San Diego 2. Arizona 0.
