The Tritons began their Fall League campaign on October 1st with a trip up I-5 to the planned city of Irvine. In the La Jolla of Los Angeles, UC San Diego came out hungry for goals. Christian “Fiji Water” Gunther blasted a left-footed rocket into the top corner before halftime to satisfy the travelling fans and his teammates. Twenty minutes into the second half, Daniel “Alexis” Sanchez – Cruz decided he was tired and needed to sit on the bench. Daniel cut down two Irvine players with a vicious tackle and received a red card. He happily ran to the bench, found a seat, and was rewarded with a stern lecture from new coach Henry “Club Liv” Cullen. Quinn “Homeless” Frantzen found Jon “6th Year” Clausen behind the Anteater defense. Clausen dribbled into the Irvine box and found Quinn who calmly slotted the ball into the goal. Kenan “The Sloth from Zootopia” Mesic had the audacity to chip the keeper from half-field which wrapped up the game and handed UC San Diego a 3-0 win.
