This Sunday, February 26th, the UC San Diego Tritons took on Orange County FC away from home. Throughout the game, the rain would come and go, and at times players were soaked from head to toe. The windy and rainy weather was a bit tough to play in, but despite the rain, the Tritons came out on top. The first half was shaky to begin with due to players misjudging the speed of the ball on both ends of the field. This came to UC San Diego’s advantage when one of the Orange County FC’s defenders misjudged the ball allowing senior Abby Chin to swipe it away from her and give the Tritons their first goal of the game. Miriam Bell later brought the team up 2-0 to end the first half. Miriam was able to put another goal behind the net in the second half with her speed and quick decisions to put the Tritons up 3-0. As the game came to a close, both teams were happy to defrost their hands and drive home in warm cars after being out in the rain for 90 minutes. This win continued UC San Diego’s impressive winning streak for the Spring League. Overall the Tritons played an excellent game. They hope to continue to stay number one in the league as they face yet another difficult component, University of San Diego, home at Sports Deck on Wednesday at 8:30 pm.
