Tritons Take Home Series Two Games to One Against Rival SDSU
The Tritons brought home the series win against the visiting Aztecs in convincing fashion.
The Tritons blew out the Aztecs 8-0 in game one, capitalizing off of their four errors. Mike Robichaux threw a complete game (7 innings), giving up only two hits with seven strikeouts. RBI's in the game came from multiple Tritons, with Dart Ramirez, Rocco Novello, Dylan Vargas, and Finn Daecher each bringing runs across. The Tritons scored in four of the six innings at the plate, putting up three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.
Game two was won in exciting fashion, with the Tritons walking it off in the bottom of the 8th inning on a bloop single by Noah Brown (double header games are played to seven innings, so the winning run was brought across in extra innings). The game was high-scoring, with the Tritons edging out the Aztecs 9-8. While the Tritons struggled to hit-- putting up five hits compared to the Aztec's nine-- the offensive production was able to capitalize off of eleven walks from Aztecs pitching. Pitching performances from Harrison Humberstone, Jarret Thompson, and Ethan Ou kept the Tritons in the game. The Tritons five hits came from five different players, while three Tritons had a pair of walks in the game.
The Tritons lost game three 3-7, in a game where they failed to execute with runners on base. Of the ten runners on base in the game, seven runners were left stranded. Triton Connor Long went 2-2 with two singles and an RBI, contributing to one of the three runs that the Tritons plated.
