10/7-10/8 Weekend Games Show Promising Skills for Triton Field Hockey

10/7 2-0 Win against Claremont McKenna

In our team's first game of the season, played at home, the Tritons secured a 2-0 victory over Claremont McKenna. The initial goal came from an impressive breakaway by Addy Rodriguez, who skillfully took the ball from a defender, dribbled down the line, and then passed it to Katie Balen for a successful shot into the goal. The second goal followed from a corner, with Simran Jandu delivering a precise pass to Addy, who tipped it in, sealing the game with a final score of 2-0. This promising start not only secured a win but also highlighted the team's individual talents and effective teamwork.

    10/8 Tie Against Cal Poly

Second game of the weekend came as a scrimmage against Cal Poly, which started in foggy weather and later became sunny. The game was low-scoring, with a 0-0 tie at halftime after the first two quarters. In the third quarter, UCSD took a 2-0 lead with goals from new team members.

Ally Welke scored the first goal with an assist from Tess Luoma, and the second goal was scored by first-year player Matilda, assisted by captain Hannah Nagakura. Cal Poly came back, scoring on two penalty corners. The scrimmage ended in a 2-2 tie. We provided substitutions for Cal Poly due to the hot weather during the game.
