Simi Valley Iceoplex
10/10/15
Written By: Dylan Shives
The UC San Diego Tritons kicked off the 2015-2016 season with a 7-3 win again Ventura County. With only 8 skaters, the Tritons had their work cut out for them. First year transfer, Liam Jablonski, started off the scoring for the tritons less than four minutes into the game, followed by another goal from Junior Dylan Shives 10 minutes later. The scoring did not end in the first period, as second year transfer and defenseman Patrick Salmas ripped a shot from the point early in the second that the opposing goaltender did not even see. Ventura would pull within two goals of the tritons a few minutes later. However, the Tritons did not slow down as Liam Jablonski scored his second of the night less than a minute later, and Dylan Shives would tally two more before the period ended, bringing the score to 6-1 in favor of the Tritons after 2 periods. Ventura would go on to score 2 more goals, only to be answered by the Tritons, as captain Dylan Shives put in his fourth goal of the night. The Tritons fought hard through 60 minutes, and returning starting goalie, Peter Simonsen, earned his first win of the season. The Tritons now look forward to a double header this weekend vs UCSB and Cal State Northridge.
