Tritons Rescue A Hard Fought Draw Against Bruins
Saturday paired the squad up against the UCLA Bruins in a hard fought match. Early defensive lapses and an unlucky bounce put the Tritons down 2-0 early in the first half. Pure grit and determination would be needed for UCSD to claw their way back into the game. With less than 5 minutes left in the half, UCSD capitalized on a loose ball around the Bruins’ 18-yard box and converted their best chance of the half to go into the break with the lead cut in half. The second half saw the Tritons adjust their formation and bring on a few subs at the direction of coach Trevor Fried. His tactical genius was rewarded midway through the half as UCSD dominated play and was rewarded with a goal for their efforts. The match ended in a hard-fought draw as both teams left it all on the field.
