Tritons Leave Arizona with Back-to-Back Wins

Thirty minutes after beating NAU, the Tritons were back on the field to take on GCU. Walking on the field for the first draw, UCSD had no idea what to expect. Their legs were tired after an almost 2 hour game against NAU. Additionally, GCU was a D1 team and UCSD was D2. However, that didn’t stop them. For the first quarter, the two teams exchanged goals keeping the scoreboard fairly level. However, a lead emerged as the quarter came to an end. For the rest of the game, GCU struggled to close it and got fairly close, within 3 goals at times, however were never successful. Junior Captain Delainey Iles had a stand out game with 5 goals. Other scorers included Junior Gillian Husovsky (4 goals), Junior Captain Ellen Jurgens (3 goals), Sophomore Sophia Terenik (2 goals), Sophomore Kayla Tracy (2 goals), Junior Sarah Brown (1 goal), and Sophomore Captain Grace Drawer (1 goal). Assists were also high this game, with both Iles and Tracy logging 4. After a 18-13 win over GCU, the Tritons headed home after their back-to-back victories, ready to rest their legs before their next game on Feb. 12th at Fullerton College.
