The UCSD Ice Hockey team took on a UC rival, the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, in a back in forth match-up. The first goal of the game came after ten minutes of play, as senior Liam Jablonski scored a goal on a pretty assist by Stefan Jovanovic. Santa Cruz responded two minutes later with a goal of their own to tie the game up at 1-1. With three minutes to go in the first period, Patrick Salmas scored off a shot that went just over the left leg of the goaltender. The score remained the same until, with two and a half minutes left in the second period, Santa Cruz managed to tie up the match again at 2-2.
In the final period, the Banana Slugs scored two goals, while the Tritons were unfortunately only able to score one. The game ended 4-3 as UC Santa Cruz took the victory.
