This past Saturday the Triton Lady Laxers faced off against their fellow Alumni in a friendly game. The UC San Diego Women’s team proved to have improved immensely since pre-season and defeated the UC San Diego Alumni 7-3.
Great performances were demonstrated across the entire field. For defense, Hannah Wolff demonstrated immense toughness and skill against the fierce UC San Diego Alum. Also defender, Danielle Gelsinger, re-defended against the Alumni’s transition, making it almost impossible for them to get it to the offensive side. The midfield boasted several draw controls from center midfielder, Michaela Juels, along with help from the circle from Jiyoung Yun and Kellen Peddicord. All the midfielders above, including Janet Gleason, boasted numerous ground balls, transitions, and re-defending. On attack freshman, Danielle Viviani, scored a whopping 3 goals. Another outstanding freshman, Nicole Goodman, scored the first goal of the game. By an amazing cut from Danielle Viviani and feed through the 8 meter by Michaela Juels, Viviani put up the second goal of the game. Rachel Teitelbaum, attacker, also made her first goal of the season, pulling the UC San Diego Lacrosse team into a striking lead. New goalie, Maria McCavitt, had an incredible save rate, completely shutting down the Alum.
Overall, the UC San Diego Women’s team seems to be coming together all over the field with an enormous amount of talent. We are looking forward to a great season.
